Bocor

Bocor: Title of the professional sorcerer of the voodoo worshippers of Haiti. The practice of voodoo worship in Haiti resembles that of the fetish worshippers in Benin from whom it appears to have evolved. The slight modifications introduced by local custom and the advent of Christianity do not appear to have brought any great change. In both cases the religious practices appear to be the degenerate remains of an early and somewhat complicated African ritual.
